'Great Moments in Stanley Cup History'. -- Is an unpublished series of four books accounting some great individual performances of NHL players and there playoff runs. One featured player is Bob Baun, a stalwart defenseman playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their 1964 Stanley Cup bid against the Detroit Red Wings. In Game 6, with Detroit ahead in best of seven series series 3-2 and he had been felled in the second period from a slap shot braking his ankle and was carried off on a stretcher. Through the rest of the second and third periods he refused to remove his skate knowing that he would not be able to put it back on. As the team heading back out for the first overtime period, Baun grabbed his hockey stick and gingerly made his way out to the ice. The home croud erupted in cheers as he rejoined his team mates on the bench. On his first shift of the period, he scored the winning goal. Two nights later while still nursing the broken ankle,,Baun continued his regular shiffs playing in game 7. Toronto went on to defeat the Red Wings 2-0 to capture the Stanley Cup!
